Arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, reshapes the upper arm, from the armpit to the elbow. Arm lifts are performed to get rid of excess hanging skin, (a condition sometimes known as batwings), tighten the underlying tissue and remove excess fat. Arm lifts are the right choice for those whose exercise and diet are ineffective in the upper arm region. If there are large amounts of excess fat deposits in the upper arm, arm lifts are sometimes combined with liposuction.

Arm lifts take between 1 and 2 hours to perform and are done under general anesthesia. Our plastic surgeon will make an incision along the inner-arm, from the armpit to elbow. This approach allows the surgeon to remove as much loose skin as possible. Excess fat and hanging skin are removed and the underlying tissue is shaped to leave the final appearance smooth. The wound is stitched to leave the least visible scar possible. Stitches and bandages are typically removed within 7 days.
Recovery Time in Thailand
After surgery the surgeon applies dressings to provide support during the initial healing process. A small tube is inserted to drain excess fluid and you are moved to a hospital recovery room for 2 nights. During the hospital stay you are monitored by hospital nursing staff and given instruction for continued post-hospital care until the body has completely healed.
Discomfort is to be expected during recovery. Medications for pain and infection prevention will be prescribed by the surgeon and administered by the hospital staff. The surgeon will provide additional prescriptions and instruction for post-hospital medications before you leave the hospital.
After 7 days you will have a final check-up by the surgeon and will be ready to return home, or to continue your holiday in Thailand. Within two weeks normal activities can be resumed, however, heavy physical activities and exercise should be avoided for 4 to 6 weeks.
