Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is the most common form of plastic surgery. The procedure, surgical placement of breast implants, is performed to change the shape and size the breast. Women often choose breast augmentation after pregnancy or weight reduction to replace lost volume and correct uneven form.
A breast lift is sometimes required, in conjunction with breast augmentation, if there is excessive breast drooping.

Breast augmentation is a relatively simple procedure, when the right medical facility and surgeon is selected. The enhancement process starts with a medical examination, which includes: measurement of the chest wall, evaluation of skin condition and selection of suitable implants. (A preview of the post procedure appearance is accomplished by wearing the selected implants in a support bra.) The implant selected will be by mutual agreement between patient and surgeon.
Once the implant is selected you are ready to go. Your morning will consist of a pre-surgery check-up of blood test, urine test and x-ray to ensure the patient is fit for surgery. The one hour surgery will be performed under general anesthesia, in the afternoon of the same day. Step one is to make an incision to create a pocket to accept the implant. (The size and placement of the incision is determined by your body type and size of the implant to be inserted.) The implant is then inserted, properly positioned and the incision stitched closed.
Recovery Time in Thailand
After surgery the surgeon applies dressings to provide support during the initial healing process. A small tube is inserted to drain excess fluid and you are moved to a hospital recovery room for a 2 nights. During the hospital stay you are monitored by hospital nursing staff and given instruction for continued post-hospital care until the body has completely healed.
Discomfort is to be expected during recovery. Medications for pain and infection prevention will be prescribed by the surgeon and administered by the hospital staff. The surgeon will provide additional prescriptions and instruction for post-hospital medications before you leave the hospital.
After 7 days you will have a final check-up by the surgeon and will be ready to return home, or to continue your holiday in Thailand. Within two weeks normal activities can be resumed, however, heavy physical activities and exercise should be avoided for 4 to 6 weeks.
