Tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a procedure used to restore weakened muscles to achieve a flatter stomach. Excess fat and skin are removed. Unsightly stretch marks are eliminated if they reside in the area of skin removal.
Contributing factors to poor stomach form are: aging, dramatic weight loss, pregnancy, gravity, and genetics.

Tummy tuck surgery takes about 3 hours and will be performed while you are under general anesthesia. Once under general anesthesia the surgeon makes an incision. A full tummy tuck may require an incision from hip bone to hip bone, while a mini tummy tuck will be shorter, with the length being determined by how much skin is to be removed. In both cases the incision is placed just below the bikini line. The abdomen skin is then lifted to allow muscle repair. The upper abdominal skin is pulled down, the excess skin is removed and the upper and lower skin id stitched together. A new hole is made for the navel and the navel is stitched into place.
For best results tummy tucks are often performed in conjunction with buttock lifts and thigh lifts, for consistancy of the lower body look.

After surgery the surgeon applies dressings to provide support during the initial healing process. A small tube is inserted to drain excess fluid and you are moved to a hospital recovery room for a 2 nights for a mini tummy tuck and 3 nights for a full tummy tuck. During the hospital stay you are monitored by hospital nursing staff and given instruction for continued post-hospital care until the body has completely healed.
Discomfort is to be expected during recovery. Medications for pain and infection prevention will be prescribed by the surgeon and administered by the hospital staff. The surgeon will provide additional prescriptions and instruction for post-hospital medications before you leave the hospital. After 7 days you will have a final check-up by the surgeon and will be ready to return home, or to continue your holiday in Thailand. Within two weeks normal activities can be resumed, however, heavy physical activities and exercise should be avoided for 4 to 6 weeks.
